What’s in the box?

-A piece of white chocolate

-A piece of dark chocolate

-Bookish self care journal

-Raven cross stitch kit

-Hardback copy of If These Wings Take Flight by Kyrie MCauley (stained edges, sighed bookplate, and an author letter)

-Escaping From Houdini, third in the Stalking Jack the Ripper dust jacket series (art done by Kira)

-Two spotify playlists, one for the box and the other for The Bone Cries Moon

This was the perfect box to get on a really tough day i was coming home from. Take Flight was just one name for this box, the other was self care. Full of things to help one relax, from chocolates to calming activities. This box had it all.

The self care journal and cross stitch kit, are the two top items I can’t wait to jump into! I’m excited to learn how to do something new, and it looks like fun. The journal on the other hand… Is also something new to try. I’ve always had trouble tracking, checking and trying to prevent any bad self care (or nonexistent) to my body and mind. A lot of times I don’t see the crash coming. But, with this journal-I think it’ll help me keep track and keep myself better taken care of .

I was so excited to get the third dust jacket for “Escaping From Houdini”, the third book in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. These beautiful covers are done by Kira (@Kiranight_art), who has done amazing work in the past with Fox & Wit (and other book boxes). I just love her work, and find myself buying her art or a box if I know she is participating in it.

The book for this month, If These Wings Take Flight, looks so good.I’m excited to read it, while also being nervous. the main character of the book just from the summary, is having a hard time  leaving her younger sisters home when she goes off to college. Not just because she will miss them, but because their father is abusive and getting worse. I’ve said this before, but I’m an older sister. I love my little sister so much, and when I had to leave my sister-I felt torn apart. So, I’m hesitant to read this book- because I already know I’m going to relate to the main character making this choice and that I’ll be crying through most of it. I can only hope that the sound track ill help with the reading!

Rating of box: 4 out of 5 stars.
