New World: Rising (New World #1) by Jennifer Wilson

Review: I have been really looking forward to reading an Of the Tomes books for a long while now, and when my chance finally came (thank you OwlCrate!) I had a really good book to start me off.

New World Rising was a gripping fast paced gritty book, and at every turn in the book that appeared before Phoenix I was on the edge of my seat. I also just love the cover!

Although Phoenix’s story was/ is similar to that of other Dystopia  novels that are common, there is a bit more to her story plot as a whole and to her character. It’s different in a way that makes you keep reading and forces you to reread over passages in the book to make sure that you just read that scene.  Even through all of this I still had a great time reading this and really can”t wait to see what else this author has in store for these characters.

By the end of the novel I was still left wanting more and to know what happens next for our leading lady. I also can’t wait to check out more of the Of The Tomes books!

Favorite Quote: N/A

Would I? Do a reread? I don’t think so. Read the second and third books? Yes, I need to know what happens next. Tell others to read this book? Yes.

SummaryWorlds collide in debut author Jennifer Wilson’s graphic dystopian series where Divergent meets Mad Max.

Since witnessing her parents’ murders at the age of eleven, Phoenix’s only purpose in life has been to uphold her mother’s dying words – to be strong and survive. But surviving outside of The Walls – outside of The Sanctuary – is more like a drawn-out death sentence. A cruel and ruthless city, Tartarus is run by the Tribes whose motto is simple, “Join or die.”

Refusing to join and determined to live, Phoenix fights to survive in this savage world. But who can she trust, when no one can be trusted? Not even herself…

The first of a trilogy, New World Rising is an epic tale of survival, instinct, trauma, and the extraordinary power of human connection.

“Savage and raw, Jennifer Wilson pulls no punches in this blood tingling dystopian.” Kimberly Derting, award-winning author of The Pledge Trilogy.
